The USA567 Women's National Team confidently cruised to a 9-0 win over host Ukraine to end group play with a 3-0 record and 36-2 overall goal differential. The US will play Serbia in tomorrow morning's Semifinal with a chance to advance to Sunday evening's Final.
Kennedy Kessler had four goals, Natalia Torres Diaz had three goals and an assist, and Erin Yenney had two goals and three assists. Unofficially, Diaz leads the tournament with 14 points on eight goals and six assists, and Kessler leads with 9 goals.
Kessler had the game's eventual game winning goal in the fifth minute. It took 10 more minutes for Yenney to extend the lead to 2-0, but Kessler stole the kickoff and quickly made it 3-0. Diaz closed out the first half scoring in the 19th minute.
Diaz opened the second half scoring in the 33rd minute and Kessler closed it out with a goal in stoppage time that closed out the game.
Braeleigh McCoy has yet to allow a goal, playing the first half of each game, and Raeann Garcia completed today's shutout with a scoreless second half.
Serbia finished second in their group despite winning their opener 18-1 over India. The Serbians looked less confident in a 1-0 loss to Egypt and a 4-0 win over Kyiv, who replaced Guatemala on the schedule at the last minute when COVID restrictions kept the Guatemalans from entering Europe.
